Frome’s summertime pop up beach returns to The Frome Independent on Sunday 7th August.
Visitors to Frome’s monthly Sunday market can expect to find real sand, buckets and spades, donkey rides, ice lollies, and even a cocktail bar at “Frome-on-Sea”, the pop up beach provided by the market at the height of summer each year.
Following huge popularity for the past two years, The Frome Independent team will be reviving the real sandy beach, which will pop up next to Frome Library for one market only. Complete with deckchairs and seagulls, “Frome-on-Sea” has proven to be a huge draw for market-goers and Frome residents alike since 2014.
Frome resident and avid beach-goer Alex Gooch was thrilled to learn that “Frome-on-Sea” will make another appearance this year.
“My family love pottering around the market, but we always make sure we’re around for the first Sunday in August so that we can enjoy Frome’s illusive beach. We come for the sand and stay for the atmosphere!”
Director of The Frome Independent Tabitha Clayson revealed that the beach is one of the market team’s favourite events to host each year, as it is so popular across the local community.
“We love bringing “Frome-on-Sea” to town each year. The beach originated as an idea to liven up the quiet month of August, but it’s now an annual feature due to popular demand. We’ve had great feedback from traders and local residents who are surprised and delighted to find a beach on their doorstep for one day each year!”
Tabitha added that special events such as “Frome-on-Sea” are made possible by the support of the “Market Makers” – market fans who have bought into The Frome Independent’s membership card scheme.
“Frome-On-Sea” is a totally free event, and as a not-for-profit company we rely upon the support of our fantastic members, The Market Makers, whose membership fees go towards our special events and community activities each season.”
“Frome-on-Sea” will be in place at The Frome Independent from 10am-3pm on Sunday 7th August. To find out more about how to join the Market Makers, visit www.thefromeindependent.org.uk/friends
