Children from Trinity, Vallis and St John’s First Schools and Oakfield Academy will be treated to a visit from much-loved, bestselling author, Megan Rix, on Thursday 26th September. Frome is just one of 10 stops on Megan’s week-long tour of the UK.
Megan is well-known for writing exciting animal stories set in important periods of history. She will be visiting host schools Oakfield and St John’s to talk about her latest book ‘Rosa and the Daring Dog’, which follows the story of Rosa Parks, whose refusal to give up her seat on a public bus prompted a widespread civil uprising against racism.
As a special treat, Megan – who is a professional dog handler and trainer – is bringing along her own dog, Freya, to meet the children. She will also be signing books and talking about how she writes and what it’s like to be a published author.
The visit is supported by her publishers Puffin (Penguin) and has been organised by Hunting Raven bookshop. If you are a teacher and would be interested in welcoming authors to your school, please contact Tina at Hunting Raven on winstone books3@gmail.com
