FROME Busks returned to the town centre on Saturday 18th March with students from Frome College and Selwood Academy taking to the stages dotted around town to perform for the community and raise money for extra-curricular clubs and equipment.
The event was organised by Frome Town Council who said, “The rain held out until the very last acts and a wonderful day was had by all; both performers and those enjoying the acts.
“Students from Frome College took to the stages and busking stations around town, creating an incredible buzz amongst the busy shoppers who took time out of their day to enjoy the sounds and songs on a bustling Saturday morning, while Selwood Academy students held the audience captive outside the Cheese & Grain.”
Head of Music at Frome College, Josh Hampson, said, “Frome Busks 2023 was as promised; bigger and better than last year! All the students were absolutely fantastic. I am always blown away by their dedication, hard work and professionalism in the lead up to events but felt this even more this year. The people of Frome are so supportive of our young musicians, and we managed to raise a whopping £568 in total. This will make a huge difference to our department and future events so thank you Frome! Lastly, a huge thank you to the Frome Town Council for putting on this event and providing the platform for our students to showcase their skills!”
The mayor of Frome, cllr Sara Butler also enjoyed the day and said, “It was amazing; at every turn there was another fantastic performance, the level of musicianship incredible, and I’m so pleased I managed to see so many up-and-coming acts – the streets of Frome today, who knows where next?”
Money raised on the day will go towards funding extra-curricular activities and clubs and equipment. Special thanks are extended to 23 Bath Street for the after party.
