February sees the introduction of three new award-winning local artists in Frome’s Good Gallery, whose work will help brighten up the winter mornings.
Laura Burke, whilst studying for her master’s degree in Fine Art at UWE, has already won the 2013 Windsor & Newton Watts Painting Prize and the 2014 SAOS Emerging Artists Bursary. She has also been shortlisted for Fringe Arts Bath’s Open Art Prize in 2016.
Sandra Tate is an instinctual maker producing fine, elegant forms that are ultimately ‘distressed’ in some way. The surface smoke patterns vary in colour and intensity depending on the burning material and are often both subtle and striking in their complexity.
Catherine Flippence works from her studio in the middle of the beautiful Salisbury Plain. The natural environment and animals are her passion, and spending time with her dogs in the countryside has inspired her to paint animal portraits and she now enjoys painting the Wiltshire countryside too. Catherine is also a keen printmaker and photographer.
Anyone interested in exhibiting their work in the gallery – which raises money for We Hear You – or volunteering to help run it should contact Debbie Cripps on 01373 472404 or debbie.cripps@wehearyou.org.uk
