The Cheese & Grain will host the award-winning farmers’ market on Saturday 13th July from 9am-1pm, showcasing the very best of local farmers, cheesemakers, bakers, brewers, market gardeners and beekeepers!
Organisers say, “It is a chance to meet the characters behind the Somerset local food scene and find out about the production methods they use, have a taste before you buy…get free cooking advice and soak up the sociable shopping experience.
“The range of farmers is impressive from Beechridge Farm, a young family who raise free range poultry, to Tracy Collins, whose family have been growing vegetables for many years in Bromham Wiltshire. This last year has seen us joined by The Wiltshire Bee Farm, whose beehives are situated on varying landscapes from an organic farm outside of Frome to Salisbury Plain and the forage available in each location is reflected in the six varieties of honey, each with distinct flavours and consistencies. Also new for 2019 are Loves Lane Farm near Radstock who raises pigs organically and bio-dynamically for arguably, the best tasting pork around.
“Another recent addition has been Root Connections based in Stratton on the Fosse, a Duchy of Cornwall farm, which has provided a base for Mendip’s rural homeless and given the opportunity to take part in horticultural activity growing produce including salads, flowers and herbs. You can support the project simply by coming along and making a purchase!
“The festival market will showcase all of our regular producers against a background of live local music and a great venue, with numerous breakfast options at the Cheese & Grain. For more information about our producer members visit www.somersetfarmers markets.co.uk
