THERE’S an exciting line-up with something for all ages coming up at the Memorial Theatre.
On Sunday 19th December, the Children’s Christmas Party will be held at The Assembly Rooms, from 2.30pm to 5pm.
PDJ Discos will be playing all your favourite Christmas Hits and children will have the chance to meet Father Christmas and receive a present. Entry is just £8 per child (adults free). All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Children’s tickets include the party, Christmas buffet and a Santa experience. There will be a Christmas raffle and the bar will be open for refreshments.
From late December through to early January, Frome Musical Theatre Company presents the traditional pantomime Dick Whittington.
It’s the well-known fairytale of Dick Whittington and his feline friend Tommy who go to London in search of fame and fortune. Join the cast for fun on the open seas, slapstick in the galley and the fight against an oversized rat!
With a large cast, live music, bright costumes, sets and lighting, come along for a truly magical experience.
This year there will also be a relaxed performance of the show at 11am on 31st December. Dimmed house lights will remain on and sound levels will be reduced for this performance.
The pantomime runs from Tuesday 28th December to Monday 3rd January.
In the new year, on Thursday 3rd February, musician and broadcaster Tom Robinson presents an evening of songs and stories spanning five decades of adventures in the music industry.
Tom’s musical journey began in 1974 when his first band was discovered by Ray Davies, and included a BBC ban for being Glad To be Gay, rocking against racism alongside The Clash, headlining Glastonbury with Peter Gabriel, writing lyrics for Elton John, drug smuggling in East Germany, two nervous breakdowns and a period in tabloid hell after falling in love with a woman.
Having made his peace with the BBC, he’s presented programmes on all the corporation’s national radio networks, and his broadcasting work has won two Sony Radio Academy awards.
Expect intimate versions of classics such as War Baby, Glad To Be Gay and 2-4-6-8 Motorway alongside stories from behind the scenes and a sprinkling of fan favourites from his extensive back catalogue.
On Friday 11th February, The Simon and Garfunkel Story’s 50th anniversary tour comes to the Memorial.
Direct from a weeklong run in London’s West End at the Vaudeville Theatre, a sold out worldwide tour and standing ovations at every performance, The Simon & Garfunkel Story is back!
Using huge projection photos, original film footage and a full live band performing all the hits including ‘Mrs Robinson’, ‘Cecilia’, ‘Homeward Bound’ and many more.
Next week’s performance of That’ll Be the Day on Saturday 4th December is sold out.
