FROME artist, Caroline Walsh-Waring, has spoken about the inspirational Frome Artists Cafe.
She said, “I moved to Frome 10 years ago knowing no-one. I knew the best way to get to meet people was to join something and, as an artist, The Frome Artists Café was ideal for me.
“Started around 2007, perhaps earlier, it was an established group who regularly met. I have made many friends and connections through the café which I have organised for about 8 years now. We very comfortably meet upstairs in The Three Swans in King Street every first Wednesday of the month from 7.30pm, (next one 5th June).
“Through the café I became involved in The Frome Open Studios until two years ago, when I handed the reins over to a new group, although I still take part in the event during the Frome Festival. I have joined The Frome Art Society and The Old Bakery Artists based in Radstock. I have now exhibited in Black Swan Arts, Rook Lane, The Silk Mill, from my home, Bath and many other locations in Somerset, Wiltshire and London, building up a following way beyond my initial hopes.
“Primarily a social group, the café has opened a world of possibilities and friendships for me with artists of all genres and ages regularly attending. We meet, we have a drink and we chat, sometimes about art, sometimes about everyday stuff, content in the knowledge that we are like-minded people of all ages.
“At the café we love to see new people, hear new ideas and build new collaborations. I just wanted to remind everyone that we are still very much alive and kicking! Why not come along? We have a Facebook page inevitably called The Frome Artists Café and a page at www.fromeopen studios.co.uk We look forward to meeting you.”
