Rehearsals are in full swing for the musical highlight of the festive season as Frome Musical Theatre Company presents the traditional family pantomime ‘Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood’ at the Memorial.
The classic tale unfolds as King Richard goes off to the crusades, leaving his kingdom and dear niece and nephew in the hands of the Sheriff of Nottingham.
As the Sheriff only really has his eyes on the riches of the King it is up to the Nurse Nellie and Maid Marion to take care of the Babes. Meanwhile our hero Robin Hood and his mischievous Merry Men steal from the rich to help the poor who are living under the wrath of the nasty Sheriff…but don’t worry it all turns out well in the end!
As always the show will be packed full of slapstick humour, vibrant costumes and popular music, this year it includes numbers from Madness, One Direction, Katy Perry plus Disney sensations ‘Frozen’ and ‘Enchanted’.
The principle line up is as follows: Robin Hood – Nicole Wooldridge, Little John – Kevin Withers, Friar Tuck – Jon O’Loughlin, Will Scarlet – Hollie White, Sheriff of Nottingham – Davey Evans, Maid Marion – Becky Hinde, Nurse Nellie – Humphrey Barnes, Snivel – Dora Bishop, Grovel – Simon Joyce, Ella – Ella Evans, Sam – George Langley, King Richard – Andy Tawse and the Bard – Astrid Bishop.
‘Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood follows the success of last year’s award winning, sell out production of ‘Cinderella’. Frome Musical Theatre Company is renowned for being one of the most professional pantomime productions in the area with local audiences choosing them over Bath and Bristol; this year will be no exception!
