The legendary Grammy Award-winning American singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright III will be appearing at the Cheese & Grain in Frome on Friday 28th July.
Famed for his mesmeric stage performance and witty, self-mocking, thought-provoking songs, he was championed by John Peel in the 70s and found an even wider audience by being a regular guest on Jasper Carrot’s “Carrot Confidential” series in the 80s and appearances on the cult TV show M*A*S*H.
Enticing an artist of the stature of Loudon Wainwright III to such an intimate venue has been a real coup, says the Cheese & Grain. “One of the all-time great singer/songwriters and one of the most mesmeric performers you are ever likely to see.”
Performing at several high profile major festivals over the summer, this will be his only other UK show!
The equally legendary Jon Boden with his band Remnant Kings will be playing their first ever gig at the Cheese & Grain on 25th November.
Jon is the most celebrated artist in the history of the Radio 2 Folk Awards, winning an incredible 11 awards to date.
Since the demise of Bellowhead, he has been working on an album with fellow stalwarts from the band Sam Sweeny and Paul Sartin and will be touring to promote it along with ace musicians Rob Harbrun and Richard Warren, with the line-up expanding up to eight members on selected gigs.
