Come and round off the summer holidays at The Frome Independent on Sunday 2nd September with a market packed full of amazing street food and delicious local produce, plus designer makers and vintage traders offering gifts, home wares, clothing and more.
Plus Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show will be in residence with some highlights from their upcoming annual cheese and farming extravaganza.
Foodies can find local produce throughout Market Place and Stony Street this September 2nd. The Somerset Farmers Markets team will be in their usual place next to the Boyles Cross with their usual array of meat, veg, cider, beer, bread, patisserie and more.
Each month the market hosts an ever-changing lineup of designers, makers and craftspeople with products ranging from glass terrariums to eco-clothing, handmade knives and everything in between. There’s also the rather lovely suitcase sale, that runs along Cheap Street, Catherine Hill and The Bridge, offering a glimpse of the work of some of the South West’s fledgling makers.
In the market yard, flea traders and vintage experts create a market packed with everything from 18th century antiques to 1990s clothing – perfect if you’re looking to furnish your home with nostalgic delights, or fill your wardrobe with pre-loved fashion. There’s also a Homes & Gardens section where you’ll find larger home-wares, as well as traders selling plants, seeds and gardenalia, this is where you’ll find houseplants, cut flowers, garden sculptures and outdoor ironwork.
As always, there will be live music from local performers throughout the day on the Market Place stage and DJing down at the Village Green from The Vintage Mobile Disco. This month the market is supporting local charity, Frome Toy Library, who will be collecting throughout the market all day. Come and find them outside Frome Library to find out about the good work they do – you can even try out some of their toys, games and activities.
More fun can be found down at the Village Green from Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show. The Cheese Show team will be bringing some highlights from this year’s event, which takes place on Saturday 8th September in West Woodlands. Come and try your hand at Welly Wanging or at milking on a special model milking cow, meet some pygmy goats, and have a ride on a miniature tractor! You’ll be able to buy tickets for the event too, and find out more about what this year’s nationally renowned Frome Cheese Show has to offer.
If you’re travelling by car to the market, please make use of the market’s Park & Ride service that runs from Frome Medical Practice on Enos Way, and Selwood School. You can also hop on a train from stations towards Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire and Dorset, or take the new D2 bus service from Bath.
The Frome Independent is a not-for-profit, social enterprise based in Frome. Run by a team of local people, their award-winning monthly markets take place on the first Sunday of the month, March – December and are free for all the community to attend.
