Tues. 2nd Nov. Southern League Div. One Frome Town 9 Barnstaple Town 2
Frome Town put a young Barnstaple side to the sword as a ruthless performance saw them jump to the top of the league.
The game full of goals, saw a special four minute hattrick from Kane Simpson in the first half, before Simpson got this fourth in the 89th minute to round off the scoring.
The game started brightly with Lenihan’s first goal of the season being quickly cancelled out from an equaliser from Tucker in a frantic opening ten minutes. Then on 27 minutes Simpson started the scoring spree, that stunned the 324 crowd as he completed his hattrick in just 240 seconds.
Either side of half time saw Alex Monks get his first and second goals of the season, with Witcombe joining him and goal from Jon Davies.
Barnstaple should take a positive in how a young team never gave up and a second goal as the game closed out was well deserved. But the plaudits will go to Frome and Simpson, as they move up to first place in the league and Simpson into the top 3 goalscorers.
