FOLK rockers Steeleye Span will be playing at Frome’s Cheese and Grain later this month during a run of almost daily shows throughout October.
With a career that has taken in an astounding six decades, Steeleye Span is a legendary name in British music and a link back to the classic days of rock and folk music.
Contemporaries of the likes of Led Zeppelin and Fairport Convention, they have gone on to change the face of folk music forever.
2015 saw the release of ‘The Essential Steeleye Span’, drawn from their 20 years on the Park Records label, and this year has been dedicated to writing and recording their newest album.
The band’s current lineup is Maddy Prior, Rick Kemp, Liam Genockey, Julian Littman, Jessie May Smart and Andrew Sinclair.
The six-piece spent 2015 touring the world, taking in Belgium, Holland, Spain, Canada and the USA, and played Rambling Man Festival and Coppery in 2016. Still as popular as ever, they are true ambassadors of what great folk music is all about.
The gig at the Cheese and Grain will be on Saturday 29th October from 8pm. Tickets cost £22.50 or £25 seated, and are available from www.cheeseandgrain.com or 01373 455420.
