Frome’s own blues singer Pete Gage – former frontman of Dr Feelgood – is among an impressive line up playing Rook Lane Chapel on Saturday 24th October, together with acclaimed jazz musician John Law, who likewise lives in the town.
“Local favourite Al O’Kane is another Frome resident promoting the anti-fracking message on behalf of Performing Arts Awareness,” says event organiser Samara Lewis.
“This engaging Frack Free Fayre is a day-long event, with wonderful family-orientated events from 10.00am until 3.30pm. The doors reopen at 4.30pm for the evening concert, which includes emerging Bath rock stars The Bohemian Embassy and, headlining, the Bristol retro jazz/swing/ska ravers The Zen Hussies. Former Loose Tubes saxophonist Iain Ballamy is also among the eclectic bill, promising an unforgettable evening’s entertainment.
“The morning/ lunchtime segment features stalls and speakers, workshops, first class kids’ entertainment, homemade food, an indoor market and much, much more, with admission free (there is a suggested donation of £5).
“Everyone is welcome and the venue is right in the centre of town (up the hill from Market Place – Bath Street, BA11 1DN). Advance tickets for the amazing evening’s performances are only £20 from The Cheese & Grain, with all profits from the whole event going to the anti-fracking cause.”
