A ‘Healthy NHS Somerset’ event, which will be held in Frome on Tuesday 18th September, will offer health checks and tips to help you quit smoking, lose weight and get fitter by simply making small changes to your diet and lifestyle.
The event will be held at the Cheese and Grain, Market Yard, Justice Lane, Frome from 11am -5pm.
More than 30 community organisations will be represented at the Healthy NHS Somerset event, offering a wide range of health information, advice and support. Organisations taking part include Mendip Health Connectors, Mind, the British Red Cross, the Alzheimer’s Society and St Margaret’s Hospice. Somerset County Council’s public health team Somerset’s pharmacies will also offer advice on taking your medicines and reducing falls in the home, and Health Connections Mendip will be showing how to find groups and support in the community that could improve your health and wellbeing.
The free health event has been organised by Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the organisation responsible for the planning and funding of Somerset’s health services, who has joined forces with Somerset County Council’s public health advisors, local charities and community support groups.
Somerset CCG will also be holding its Annual General Meeting at the venue from 1.30pm.
This is an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions, hear about the successes and demands affecting Somerset’s health care system and find out how their views can help shape the local NHS in the future.
