Newly-formed community group, Friends of Egford Lane Park, carried out their first litter-pick on Saturday 10th March.
Local families came together to give the park a spring clean and get to know each other. After collecting several bags of rubbish, as well as some buggy wheels, a light fixture and a collection of vintage lager cans, the group shared a picnic and discussed ways in which they could improve the park. These included; fruit trees, a wildflower area, more shelter and seating, a proper football pitch and a summer fair.
Organiser Suzy Cristinacce said, “It was wonderful to see so many people volunteering their time on a damp and drizzly Saturday morning. The park is great, but it could be truly amazing if we work together to look after and improve it.”
If you would like to get involved, please search for ‘Friends of Egford Lane Park’ on Facebook, email friendsofelp@gmail.com or just turn up at the park on the first Saturday of each month at 10.30am. Everyone welcome.
