‘If the ravens leave the Tower, the kingdom of Britain will fall…’
Ravenmaster of the Tower of London, Christopher Skaife, is coming to Hunting Raven Books to talk about his life as keeper of the Queen’s ravens, on Friday 14th December.
Chris’s official title is ‘Yeoman Warder of Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London’, and caring for the Tower’s seven ravens is a central part of the distinguished position he holds.
In his critically acclaimed memoir Ravenmaster, Chris gives a wonderfully personal account of his life in service to Her Majesty the Queen and of his relationship with the portentous birds for which he cares. As he so beautifully states, “I look after the ravens – and the ravens look after us.”
Chris will come dressed in all his regalia and will be delighted to answer questions about the book and about his life in royal service. He will also be more than happy to sign books.
Tickets cost £3 and can be redeemed against purchase of the book on the night (RRP £14.99). At time of going to press the venue had yet to be confirmed, however this is now widely publicised on the event page at www.winstonebooks.co.uk/events or can be discovered by calling us on 01373 473111 or emailing winstonebooks3@ gmail.com
