ASDA, Frome has announced that it is the first supermarket in the country to install a collection point for unwanted books as part of the British Book Rescue.
Millions of books are thrown away each year and the British Book Rescue works to find a new home for any unwanted books – this could be schools, hospitals, prisons, and care homes. The collection point can be found in the Asda car park. The books that cannot be rehomed due to poor quality are recycled – none are sent to landfill.
The Frome Asda community colleague Jackie said, “We are very proud to be the first supermarket in the country to get a book recycling facility! We are very passionate about recycling and so this we just another way to get our customers involved with recycling.”
