LOCAL band Jupiter Owls have released their debut album ‘The Fallow Cry of the Jupiter Owls’.
Jupiter Owls play a chilled mix of folk/pop tinged with Americana and country. Inspired by artists such as James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel and Nick Drake, their sound is evocative of the early seventies West Coast scene.
Singer-songwriter/guitarist John Libert originally formed Jupiter Owls as a duo with guitarist Ryan Steele in 2013. They recorded the album over two years in the cupboard under John’s stairs with John and Ryan playing all instruments.
The duo have now been joined by a rhythm section consisting of Kev Jefferies on bass and Kevin Reed on drums.
You can catch them performing live as part of the Roots Sessions at the Grain Cafe Bar on Wednesday 21st June at 8.45pm. Entry is free. Find out more about the band by visiting their website: http://jupiterowls.com/
