Following the success last November of the first Frome Book fair for many years, organises are pleased to announce that the next Frome Book Fair will be held on Saturday May 6th at the Silk Mill.
There will be sixteen dealers from the South West and further afield, including two bookbinders, Tony Butler (Stour Bookshop) and Allan Dollery (Kingswood Books). There will be a wide variety of antiquarian and secondhand books, maps, prints and ephemera at prices to suit all budgets.
Visitors of The Frome Independent Market will recognize Noel Crack from previous years. He specializes in Ornithology and British wildlife, the life and works of the poet John Clare among other local interests. For the next Frome Fair, Noel will be bringing “one rather special item, which I have not had before and indeed had never seen”. Details as follows: “Cuzner’s Handbook to Frome Selwood” with 12 engraved plates of views. Good copy in original embossed green cloth with gilt titles. Published in Frome by S Cuzner c.1867, £125.
Kingswood Books will be bringing a number of items on the Dorset artist Rena Gardiner including one of her most sought after works ‘Dorset: The Isle of Purbeck’ priced at £250. Also her biography by Julian Francis. This is signed by him and is now out of print, priced at £65. There will be many other items as well as a smaller size reprint of ‘Dorset: The Isle of Purbeck’ at £12.
The fair will be held 10am to 4pm. Admission is £ 1 (children free)
There is lots of parking nearby, and level access. Refreshments will be available all day, and there are also several cafes in the vicinity.
