FROME Bridge Club hosted a successful charity event for Fair Frome on Friday 25th November, with members raising £725.
The club spokesperson says, “In September, Margaret Donkin and Ray Nicholson organised a very successful Bridge event in aid of the Ukraine, and they hosted a further charity event in aid of Fair Frome.
“The aim of the recent event was to raise money to make a financial contribution to the charity, as well collecting food and toiletries for people who need them. The event was at Wesley Chapel – which kindly allowed the club to use its premises without its usual fee.
“Everyone enjoyed themselves in what was a fun afternoon for all concerned. Bridge was supplemented by tea and biscuits. £725 was raised for Fair Frome, and this, together with 16 bags of food and toiletries were delivered to Fair Frome by Ray and Margaret.”
Frome Bridge Club continues to hold evening sessions at 7pm on Monday evenings and three different teaching classes for people of all abilities at 9.30am on Thursday mornings – all at Wesley Chapel. From 10th January, Frome Bridge Club is planning to start bridge lessons at Wesley Chapel on Tuesday evenings, with some hope that people who are still in employment might be able to come along then.
If this goes well, there is scope to add a session of playing bridge to run alongside the lessons.
