Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) will be holding a day of cardiac screening in Frome on Saturday 21st March at Oakfield Academy in memory of Julian Wort.
Julian died suddenly of a undiagnosed heart condition at the age of 28, in March 2000. In his memory, Julian’s parents, Shirley and Dave Wort, set up the ‘Julian Wort Memorial Fund’ through the charity CRY in 2001.
The fund has raised thousands of pounds, helping to purchase two ECG machines, two defibrillators for Frome Hospital and the medical practice; and funds four screening days, enabling 369 young people to be screened for hidden heart problems.
The fifth cardiac screening day for people aged 14 to 35, on Saturday 21st March, will coincide with the 20th anniversary of Julian’s death.
