Frome-based charity The Pod has published its first dedicated Impact Report, highlighting a year of growth, new projects and stronger connections for local people and families.
During 2025/26, 917 people directly benefited from The Pod’s activities, with the charity delivering nearly 16% more activities than the previous year.
Established in 2013 by parent carers who recognised a lack of inclusive opportunities locally, The Pod now supports people across Somerset and Wiltshire.
However, the charity says the real impact goes beyond the numbers. Of the parent carers surveyed, 69% said they had made new friends or connections through The Pod, while 95% of children surveyed at Pod Youth Club said they had enjoyed new experiences and learned new things.
Chair of Trustees Moira said, “The Pod is a wonderful community and it’s been fantastic to see it go from strength to strength over the past year. We’re incredibly grateful to our dedicated staff team and volunteers, who give so much of their time, energy and heart.
“Our new Impact Report is a great way of showing not just what The Pod does day to day but the real difference everyone is making.”
The past year has seen a number of developments across the charity. Pod Youth Club has expanded, with two clubs now running on the same night, helping to significantly reduce waiting lists.
Little Scrapstore also reopened following a winter refurbishment, with improved accessibility and a safer, more welcoming environment.
The charity launched a pop-up Community Café at the Key Centre, offering a welcoming and inclusive place to meet, with affordable refreshments and free options so everyone can take part.
A new education programme has also been introduced, giving adult SEN learners free daytime opportunities to build confidence, make connections and develop new life skills through supportive, practical learning.
Volunteers remain at the heart of The Pod’s work. During the year, 61 volunteers contributed 1,819 hours, including 20 people with additional needs who were supported to volunteer.
