FROME College has announced that following an Ofsted inspection in April, the college continues to be rated a ‘Good’ school.
Frome College say they are ‘delighted’ with the rating and inspectors found the following key points:
• Substantial improvements to the leadership and management of the school.
• Direct and purposeful leadership
• Most able pupils’ progress was above average and these pupils continue to make strong progress
• Pupils receive good support from teachers
• Teachers know their pupils well and provide individualised help
• Teachers’ expectations of pupils’ conduct are high
• The majority of pupils make strong progress
• Senior leaders have ensured that teachers provide extra help to develop pupils’ reading skills in all year groups
• Senior leaders’ work is effective because they know the needs of pupils and their families
• Pupils and sixth form students feel safe. They say that they are listened to by staff and so feel settled and happy at school.
The college reports, “Further details are on our website, and following this publication, there will be an open meeting on Thursday 7th June at 7.00pm. We will host the same meeting during the college day on Friday 8th June at 9.30am for our families’ convenience. During the meeting we will highlight all the key points, and governors will also be available for questions.”
Chair of Frome College Governors, Max Wide said, “We are delighted that the school has been given such a positive report which recognises the hard work and dedication of our staff and the way staff, pupils and parents work together to make this a college of which we can all be immensely proud. What the inspectors recognised in this judgement was our desire and ability to keep on improving to make the college an even better place to work and study.”
The college says, “We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support. Frome College benefits enormously from having such supportive parents, motivated students, strong community links, and a dedicated team of staff who have made this result possible.
“Looking ahead, we also have a sixth form open evening on Wednesday 13th June from 4.30-6.00pm in Frome Futures. For anyone who has not yet decided on their post-16 destinations, we have one of the largest ranges of A-level subjects in the area, and still have places available. If you are unable to attend the evening, visits to the college are welcomed at other times by appointment convenient to you and your family. For more information, please call us on 01373 469014.”
