FROME Community Hospital’s summer fete has been hailed a great success, raising £1,800 towards sensory lighting and improvements to patient waiting areas.
And the organisers have paid tribute to the Frome community for their fantastic support.
Cath Hirons, secretary to Hayley Hughes, matron, said, “It really was incredible how many staff and volunteers were involved to help run stalls on the day and also in the weeks leading up to the event to assist and donate items, organise and publicise the fete, to enable us to raise funds. The admin and secretarial teams have been paramount in this and this would not have succeeded without them.
“Husbands, partners and children of staff all got involved on the day, which gave a warm community feel. We would also like to thank the Rotary Club of Frome Selwood, especially Ken Fricker, for organising the very popular barbecue, tables and chairs and much more. The Lions Club are also always a valuable presence at the fete with the land train, which is such an attraction for the little ones.
“This could not have been achieved without the support from the local community and charities and the massive amount of support and help from our hospital staff, volunteers, Friends of Frome Hospital and Birthing Unit.
“We had so many donations from staff and volunteers of raffle prizes, kids prizes, cakes, scones for the cream tea stall, bric-a-brac, bottles, jigsaws, books, car washing equipment, and much more. We were also supported by Health Connections, CPR with Friends of Frome Hospital, Dog’s Trust, Cats Protection and the Wings Appeal.
“Wyn Thomas kindly took photos at the event all day as a charitable contribution. Wyn is married to Roz who has been a medical secretary at Frome Hospital for over 20 years.”
