Frome Diamonds netball team took victory over Wessex Blades recently, winning 54 points to 11.
“Diamonds started this game in great form and never looked back,” reports Jane Bulls. “With Blades struggling at the bottom of the league, Diamonds capitalised on every front with great interceptions, defending and shooting.
“Alice Bradley and Emily Pascoe were imperious in defence limiting Blades to three goals in the first quarter whilst Diamonds scored 14. Forging ahead in the second quarter gaining turnover ball from held possession, Diamonds shooters grew in confidence with Alice Baker dominating the circle with her turn of speed.
“They led at half time by 28 goals to five. Olivia, one of Frome juniors joined the fray at half time and did not disappoint slotting in easily to the centre court. Gemma Pickford fed the shooters well with timed passes and Meg Young put in another solid performance.
“Meg picked up the Players’ Player Award for the second week running for her tireless running and enthusiasm, and by the end of the third quarter Diamonds were leading by 43 goals to nine. In the last quarter Blades were restricted to two goals as Alice plucked numerous passes out of the air coupled with some great rebounding earning her the Player of the Match Award. To their credit, Blades never gave up even though Frome won convincingly by 54 goals to 11.”
