Sat. 20th July. West of England Premier Cricket League – WEPL Somerset Frome 203-4 Wellington 55-all out
Frome strike back after last week’s disappointing loss, with the Croker brothers stealing the show with the bat and ball.
Frome elected to bat after some unsettled weather in the run up to the match. First to bat were P Sanger (2) and Lett (4) who fell quickly, leaving Frome 11-2 and in trouble. S Croker (106no) and R Croker (23) arrived to try and put Frome back on track. R Croker was next to fall, which brought Lewis (48) to the crease, who attacked alongside S Croker in a partnership of 91. S Croker was the anchor of the innings with a hard earned 106no, saving the day for the showmen and leaving the total on a respectable 203 at the interval.
Frome only needed two bowlers to dominate Wellington’s batsmen. The consistent R Croker (7-24) returned to take another 7 wickets, improving his incredible season figures to a total of 41 wickets in the league. Croker was supported by Barton (3-26) who bowled exceptionally to destroy the remainder of Wellington’s line up, sending them home after just 17 overs.
After this commanding performance, the showmen pull clear at the top of the league by 52 points.
