Jeremy Westcott, who presents the fun-filled midday show Wescott’s World on Frome FM 96.6fm is broadcasting his show from Goa, in southern India, until the end of March.
The show is a mix of laconic comment and amusing anecdotes on a variety of subjects that catch Jeremy’s fancy, classic comedy sketches and music. As ex-landlord of the Bell at Buckland Dinham, Jeremy is especially interested in hotels and restaurants, food and drink, but his stories include his other passions – motoring and vintage collectibles.
When in Frome, Jeremy runs the Cheese and Grain markets and the Sunday car boot sales at the venue. He’s also a marketing consultant to a number of local food producers.
Jeremy is also freelance consultant to the international hotel industry, travelling the globe to train staff at some of the world’s most prestigious hotels. In the autumn of 2017, Jeremy went to the Scilly Isles to set up a brand new hotel on the island of St. Martins. He produced several Westcott’s World shows from there. Now he’s been called to the tourist resort of Goa to train staff and help run the Haathi Mahal hotel in Cavelossim.
Jeremy was there for Christmas and as a tall, bearded Brit, was called on to impersonate Father Christmas ‘to at least 400 people’, says Jeremy.
Recording on location with his £80 hand-held digital recorder, Jeremy’s been telling the Frome FM listeners about some of the quirky ways of the Southern Indian people, life in the tourist hotel, the local traditions and of course the food and drink culture. Jeremy’s mix of music, which he plays between each story or comment, spans all genres from Queen and Elvis Presley to Noel Coward.
Jeremy sends his shows in over the internet once a fortnight and they’re played out on Frome FM – 96.6fm in the area at 1200 every other Wednesday.
