A new manager has been appointed to lead the team at a popular charity store in Frome.
Sher Wilkinson has started working at Barnardo’s in Kingsway Precinct after successfully running the charity’s Westbury store.
She replaces former manager Judith Loughlin who recently retired after 29 years of fundraising.
Sher is delighted by the new role and has already been impressed by the Frome team.
She said, “I jumped at the chance when I heard there was a vacancy at the Kingsway Precinct store, as it’s so well-established and so successful.
“It’s got a lovely community feel and has so many volunteers of such different ages.
“They’ve all been so amazing and so very kind. They’ve welcomed me with open arms.”
Sher has always worked in the charity retail sector.
She started as a volunteer but soon secured a paid job as a sales assistant before working her way up to the position of senior support manager.
She only joined Barnardo’s last year but is excited by her latest challenge.
She added, “I’m proud to support a charity which transforms the lives of hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children and young people and their families every year.
“The Kingsway Precinct store makes a valuable contribution to Barnardo’s fundraising efforts which enable this important work to continue across the UK.
“I hope the people of Frome will carry on supporting our store – as donors, shoppers or volunteers – so that we can give children the best possible start in life.”
The Barnardo’s store is open Monday-Saturday from 9am-5.30pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm.
The team always welcome good-quality clothes, books, toys, games, accessories and bric-a-brac as well as offers of help from potential volunteers.
