Frome Gateway Club held its awards evening at Nunney Village Hall on 15th October with trophies and certificates being presented by the Carnival Queen and her attendant to members following various sports and games events.
“The highlight of the evening was when the Mayor Kate Bielby presented Anita Forrester with the Joan Miller Achievement Cup,” said Ann Taylor, leader of Frome Gateway Club. “Anita received the cup for her bravery when a fire broke out in her home. She was commended for staying calm when contacting the emergency and helping her partner, who has mobility issues, to leave the flat safely.
“The club members voted Jane Chapman as Helper of the Year, and Frome Ukulele Club gave a performance that put a seal on a very special occasion.”
