SUSAN Foxwell, leader of 4th Frome Guides, was recently presented with her Queen’s Badge award by county president Margaret Maltby at County Day.
The Queen’s Guide Award is the highest award members can work toward in guiding. It gives the chance to develop skills while contributing to guiding and the local community at an impressive level. It’s open to members aged 16 to 25. The award is based on the concepts of personal challenge and participation and is split into five sections: service in guiding, outdoor challenge, personal skill development, community action and residential.
The Queen’s Guide Award is a challenging programme comparable to the Queen’s Scout or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Since the awards creation 60 years ago 20,000 young women have gained the award.
