Frome’s monthly Sunday market, The Frome Independent launches its 2017 markets this Sunday 2nd April.
In an event which promises lots of springtime festivities, residents and visitors can find an array of makers, traders and food producers, throughout Frome town centre. Craftspeople from Frome and beyond will line Market Place, The Bridge and Catherine Hill once again. In the Market Yard the Frome Flea will offer vintage collectables, clothing and homewares, plus plants, flowers, garden ornaments and even sheds!
Somerset Farmers Markets will be in place next to the Boyle Cross, with farmers from across the region offering fresh fruit and veg, breads and pastries, cheeses and locally reared meat and game. In Scott Road visitors can find world cuisines prepared using local ingredients from traders offering everything from sushi to sausage rolls.
There will also be live music on the Market Place Stage, and the Vintage Mobile Disco DJs will be spinning vintage vinyl down at the pop-up Village Green. Families can have a go at springtime planting and decorating their own plant pot in a children’s art workshop.
Sadly, Market organisers were forced to cancel last month’s market due to the potential dangers presented by the forecast high winds. Director of the Frome Independent, Tabitha Clayson, said that her team were devastated to have to cancel, but that the support shown in the wake of the cancellation had been overwhelming:
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our traders, shopkeepers, visitors and residents who were all so understanding and supportive. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to some sunnier markets this spring!”
The Frome Independent takes place across Frome town centre on Sunday 2nd April from 10am until 3pm. The market’s special Park and Ride service will be in operation, shuttling market goers between car parks at Frome Medical Practice, Selwood School and the town centre. Trains arrive at Frome at 10.31am and depart 3.37pm with the Heart of Wessex Bristol to Weymouth line.
