Kindness on streets of Frome with fifth annual festival
This year’s Kindness Festival, organised by The Good Heart, brought the community together under the theme of ‘imagine more kindness.’
Over 30 events were offered from 14th to 21st March, including music and comedy, workshops, talks, film nights and community get-togethers such as the Frome Grief Network. For the first time, the festival teamed up with Window Wanderland to create a free open-air exhibition on the theme of ‘hope’ throughout the town.
One of the festival’s aims is to reach as many children and young people as possible. Special assemblies encouraging poetry-writing about kindness were held in every Frome school. Hundreds of poems by children and young people were then distributed throughout the town last week: in windows, as origami, in shopping bags, in cafés and bars, and more.
Another highlight was the Kind Lab and Imaginarium, a pop-up on Cheap Street which entertained over 1,000 visitors during the week with a mixture of fun activities and thought-provoking facts about kindness.
Director of the Frome Kindness Festival Alison Murdoch said, “Huge thanks to everyone who made this uplifting and heart-warming festival possible: our funders and sponsors, venues and hosts, event leaders and volunteers, plus all the children and young people who took part.”
