Frome Town Ladies 3 – 2 Downend Ladies.
Ladies got off to a brilliant start when a cross from Rich found Dinham to put Frome in front.
With Frome having to jump tackles, and Downend getting physical, Frome conceded after a brilliant first save from Christer. Frome attacked again and Dinham found Bryant on the edge of the box, with Bryant finding the top corner. Downend continued to push and Edwards made some brilliant tackles with Hervey working continuously in midfield. Second half saw Sinkins make an impact to get Frome a third. Downend managed to claw one back but Frome worked hard and deserved their victory.
Frome Town Ladies 4 – 4 Ilminster Town , AET 5-5 Penalties 0-3
Knowing how important the FA cup is for Frome the Ladies were focused. Frome took control in the first half with Nash scoring a wonder strike from 30 yards. Ilminster continued to battle but Frome were two strong and Bryant managed to get a second for the team followed closely by a third. Ilminster continued to push and managed to get one back before half time. Ilminster came out a different team, with Frome carrying injuries and going down to 10 players, Ilminster got two goals back. Christer made some brilliant saves to keep Frome in the game but was unable to keep Ilminster’s 4th out as they pulled ahead.
New signing Yeo made her debut and got Frome back on track with a 4th to make it level. Extra time Frome pushed hard and was caught on the break giving Ilminster the lead. Luckily Rich was back and soon got Frome level to take the match to penalties. Frome was unable to convert any of theirs and Ilminster took the win 3-0. A brilliant battle from Frome.
Frome Town Ladies FC are recruiting players to play in the South West Women’s League.
The league is two divisions above county standard. Training takes place on the AstroTurf at Frome Leisure Centre on Wednesday evenings, 7.00pm -9.00pm. Players aged 16 to 27 who are interested in challenging themselves should contact Jon Archer 07739 093330 or email ladies@frometownfc.co.uk
