Frome Town Ladies FC are in action at the Blindmans Brewery Stadium on Sunday 28th September, in one of the biggest matches in their history, when they face ambitious Truro City Ladies in the FA Womens Cup, with a 2.00pm kick off.
Frome overcame Cheltenham Civil Service 2-0 in the previous round, courtesy of goals from Steph Isaacson and Becky Yeo, to set up the mouthwatering clash against one of the best teams in the South West of England.
Frome are looking to try and attract a bumper crowd to the event and Melksham based Townsend Design & Print have assisted the club by donating 5000 leaflets advertising the game, and these have been distributed to schools and individuals all across the town.
The home side go into the game as massive underdogs, but anything can happen in cup football, and Frome are hoping that a large and vociferous home support will assist them, so they are appealing to everybody in the town to come along to the game and get behind the team.
Frome have three key players missing the match, centre back Karen Perkins (unavailable) along with injured midfield pair Lucy Dinham and Elle Saunders all miss out, but new signing from Keynsham Kim Cheffey will make her home debut. Frome manager Tim Davis commented, “Truro are a big, strong and experienced side who will undoubtedly believe they will be able to win comfortably but we will be fit and well organised and will give 110%. For us to succeed we need a massive home support encouraging the girls from the first whistle to the last, so if you possibly can get yourself, family and friends to the game then do so.”
Epicocity are the Woman of the Match sponsors and Jason Roberts from the Utility Warehouse are the Match ball sponsors.
Unbeaten start ended
Frome’s unbeaten start to the season was ended by league favourites Gloucester City who beat the Robins 3-2. Goals from skipper Devon Rich from 40 yards and also from Steph Isaacson.
