Frome Library is turning 25 years old on Saturday 21st November with a birthday party to celebrate.
Cake, biscuits, teas and coffees will be served in the entrance lobby during the day, and the birthday celebrations will include a special offer on DVD hire – borrow one at full price and borrow a second for free.
In conjunction with Frome’s independent book shop, the Hunting Raven, there will also be a free local children’s author event taking place involving Annabel Claridge, Kate Maryon, Angie Morgan, Jeremy de Quidt, Maudie Smith, and Joffre White amongst others, which starts at 10.00am. Photos depicting the library’s history will also be on display.
Cllr David Hall, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Libraries said, “It is fantastic that Frome Library has been at the heart of the community and located in the same building for the past 25 years, providing a vital service as well as so much pleasure and enjoyment to the local community. I hope everyone who attends the birthday celebrations has a great day.”
Membership for all Somerset Libraries is free and allows hire of DVDs, music CDs, audio books and language courses, as well as the free loan of books, eAudio books and eBooks. Regular weekly activities run in Frome library for all ages ranging from ‘BabyBoogie’ to iPad/Tablet training sessions.
