FROME Lions have recently been busy assisting the Frome Town Council rangers in enhancing two areas of the town.
Lion Mike Geake reports, “Firstly 30 new cherry trees obtained by the council were planted on the old showground site in Frome.
“It was quite hard work as the soil is mainly clay and each tree needed a hole 2 feet in diameter and 18 inches deep, dug out by hand, but the end result was well worth it and hopefully will give a lot of pleasure to the dog walkers, joggers and all the other residents who will use the showground for many years to come.
“Secondly, 2,000 daffodil bulbs were planted along the Château-Gontier riverbank walk close to the Jenson Button Bridge. The Lions would like to thank all of the people who donated to their Just Giving page which enabled us to purchase the bulbs and park ranger Mark, for his help with the planting.
