In 2020, Frome Community Trust celebrates 20 years of helping Frome organisations to develop community facilities in the local area.
The Trust was founded by a group of Frome councillors and local people in the year 2000 and since that time, has provided grants to a huge number of groups, and supported a wide range of projects, both small and large – over £100,000 is estimated to have been given away by the trust.
In its 20th birthday year, the Trust is looking for local people to join the board of trustees. No particular skills or qualifications are needed other than an interest in helping Frome to improve its local facilities, and a willingness to attend meetings three to four times a year. If you think you may be able to help, or would like to find out more, please telephone chair (Sue Worringham) on 01373 462431 or send an email to worringham@btinternet.com
The trustees would also like to announce that applications are now open for the 2020 grants for community organisations and groups in Frome and the local villages. A total of about £5,000 is available, raised entirely by the proceeds of the Frome Community Lottery. Grants are typically given for between £200 and £2,000 and are meant for the development of community facilities in the local area.
Chair of the Trust, Sue Worringham said, “All the money we are able to give out comes from the proceeds of the Frome Community Lottery. We are extremely grateful to all our supporters who play the community lottery every week, as 50% of their weekly stake of £1 comes back to Frome to support local groups. They also have a chance to win cash prizes of up to £25,000!” Players who wish to join the lottery can pick up a leaflet at Frome Library or the Town Hall or join through the Trust’s website.
Application forms, which must be returned by 31st January, are available from the ‘News’ page of the Trust’s website – www.fromecommunitytrust.btck.co.uk or by emailing worringham@btinternet.com
