Several local organisations received grants from Frome Community Lottery this year, at the annual Presentation held at the Memorial Theatre.
There was a large number of applications for grants from diverse groups in Frome and the local villages. The organisations who were successful and received grants ranging from £68 to £1,600, were the Memorial Theatre, the Merlin Theatre, Frome Park Bowls Club, Frome Town Football Club, Black Swan Arts, Frome Twinning Association, the Pod and the Frome Festival. This year‘s grants, to develop community facilities in Frome and the surrounding area, totalled nearly £5,000.
Grant funding comes entirely from the proceeds of the Frome Lottery. Participants spend £1 a week, with the chance of winning cash prizes of up to £25,000. Of this, 50% is available to support community groups in the Frome area. In the last year over 100 people in Frome have won prizes. Joining forms are available from Frome library or on the Trust’s website www. fromecommunitytrust.btck. co.uk. or by calling Sue on 01373 462431
Sue Worringham, chair of the town Lottery said, “The trustees of the Lottery are always impressed by the range of activities going on in Frome and by the huge range of organisations working to improve facilities for the people of Frome and the villages around. It would be great if we were able to give grants to even more local organisations. They all do such excellent work towards making Frome such a good place to live. This will only be possible if more local people join the Lottery, so please consider joining, knowing that half of what you pay weekly comes directly back to Frome groups. You might even win some prizes!”
