EIGHT organisations received grants from the Frome Community Lottery this year at a presentation evening hosted by The Good Heart on Palmer Street, including four organisations who had never received Lottery grants before.
The funding will support people of all ages across Frome and the wider area, and covered projects working in many different fields. The successful organisations, which each received a share of the total funding of £5,120 were; The Good Heart; the Frome Festival; Songs for the Memory; the Memorial Theatre; the Pod; We Hear you; Cultivating Community (Victoria Park Café); and the 1st Coleford Scout Group.
Grant funding comes entirely from the proceeds of the Frome Lottery. Participants spend £1 a week with the chance of winning cash prizes of up to £25,000. Of this 50% is available to support community groups in the Frome area. In the last year many people in Frome have won prizes.
Trustee of Frome Community Lottery Sue Worringham, said, “We are always impressed by the range of activities going on in Frome and by the huge range of organisations working to improve facilities for the people of Frome and the villages around. This year’s grants covered many aspects of Frome life, and ages. It would be great if we were able to give grants to even more local organisations. They all do such excellent work towards making Frome such a good place to live. This will only be possible if more local people join the Lottery, so please consider joining, knowing that half of what you pay weekly comes directly back to Frome groups. You might even win some prizes!”
Forms to join Frome Community Lottery are available from Frome library and other places in Frome, or on the Trust’s website https://fromecommunitylottery.org.uk/ or by calling Sue on 01373 462431.
