A Frome man who has been collecting railway tickets from Bath Spa Railway Station for the last 20 years has been celebrated with a certificate and a bag of goodies from the station team.
Andrew Newlyn has been collecting train tickets from Bath Spa Railway Station since 2004, having started visiting the station that year following the closure of the day centre he used to attend.
He was introduced to the station by one of his support workers, Kevin Snelgrove, and has been visiting it four days a week, collecting train tickets and undertaking some platform duties in his early days.
Kevin said, “Andrew has built up many friendships over his 20 years and has been widely accepted as a team member by all of the dispatch, gateline and office teams. The staff at Bath Spa Railway Station have been wonderful over the past 20 years.”
Deputy station and team manager, Chris Horler, said, “Andrew is a joy to be around and he always makes us smile. It was a pleasure to present Andrew with a certificate and some gifts. He will always be known for his quirky personality and, best of all, his impressions of the team, which he regularly loves to share with us.
“Thank you, Andrew, for bringing joy to the team for the last 20 years. Long may it continue.
Also, thank you to Kev, a true gentleman who has always been there for Andrew.”
