Frome Netball Club are partnering with local cancer support charity We Hear You for their annual fundraising tournament on Sunday September 18th.
The event which is in its third year has outgrown the original youth centre venue and is moving to Frome Selwood Academy to optimise the activities on offer.
The club are inviting both junior and adult teams of up to 10 players, of mixed gender and ability to take part in this fun competition – you can even dress up!
The charity tournament was founded in memory of John Read, a parent of one of the players who sadly passed away from Leukaemia. Jess Read said, “My dad, along with my mum were always willing to run me back and forth to my netball training and matches, whatever the weather! Raising money for those in need whilst supporting the club makes this yearly tournament very special to us as a family.”
Alongside the fun competition there will be various stalls and activities to take part in, both indoors and out and refreshments will be provided by event sponsors Edwards and Ward.
We Hear You (formerly Positive Action on Cancer) offer free, professional counselling to children and adults affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions across Frome, BANES, Wiltshire and Somerset.
Helen Sprawson-White, Assistant Fundraiser at WHY said, “We are delighted to be working alongside Frome Netball Club for this fun event. Being held in memory of Jess’s dad obviously has extra meaning for us as an organisation that exists to support families like the Read’s.
“Each session of support that we offer comes at a direct cost to the charity of £44, thanks to the generosity of our communities we are able to provide this service for free to anyone that is in need at any time”
Team entry cost is just £15 with all money raised being split equally between WHY and the club. Anyone interested in entering a team or holding a stall should contact Lisa on 07810 123259 or email fromenetballclub@hotmail.co.uk
