FROME Netball Club held their annual charity tournament in honour of one of their member’s late father, John Read, on Sunday 17th September.
Sheriden Pleasants, events team coordinator said, “This is the third year we have been running this tournament raising money for various charities; this year the chosen charity was Dorothy House.
“The tournament was held at Oakfield Academy and was well attended by eight teams and their friends and family, including teams from Oakfield Academy, Selwood Academy and Frome Fire Brigade.
“All teams really embraced the fun element, with several wearing fancy dress and face paint. They gave it their all but the team who came out on top for the second year running was The Almighty Cox’s.
“The barbecue and raffle were also very well supported and on the day we managed to raise a fantastic £662.00! The money will be split between Dorothy House and Frome Netball Club.
“Frome Netball Club would like to thank everyone that took part on the day and helped run the tournament. Without their support it would not have been such a success! Also we would like to thank the following businesses and companies for their generous donations to the raffle: Centre Parcs, Cordero Lounge, KP Garage, Boho, Bonbon, Sam’s Kitchen, Bramble and Wild Florist, Treatments by Tori, Zucci, Sean Smith pet portraits and wildlife art and Costa coffee. Their donations were greatly appreciated and helped us raise a lot of money for a wonderful cause.”
