Frome Poker Group has donated £1,000 to Fair Frome and recently presented the cheque to the charity, which runs various projects in the town including the food bank, furniture bank and community pantry.
With over 400 members, the group plays once a month in the Frome Poker Group League and raised the funds which Fair Frome says will be used to purchase food for residents this Christmas.
A cheque was presented to Lenka Grimes, senior coordinator of Fair Frome. In a statement of thanks on their Facebook page, Fair Frome said, “A huge, huge thank you to Frome poker group for donating £1,000 today to help us buy food for those in need in the run-up to Christmas.”
Earlier this year, the group also donated funds to local family charity, Purple Elephant.
“We have raised lots over the years for various local charities,” explained one of the group’s members Stuart Greenan. “Earlier this year, we donated £1,000 to Purple Elephant towards their Children’s Festival.”
