A FROME Police officer has been awarded a PCC Pride Award for her efforts in tackling speeding in the town.
The award was handed to Sgt Rachel Clark from Frome Safer Stronger Neighbourhood team by Somerset Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens at a ceremony in Portishead.
PS Clark’s nomination was from Frome Community Speed Watch and read, “I wish to nominate Sgt Rachel Clark because Rachel heads up the Frome SSN team and is a very valuable team member, not only to us in Mendip Community Speed Watch (CSW), but also to the officers under her control.
“So, just where do you start with Rachel as she has given us so much useful advice and support, not just to CSW but others in the Frome community? She has always made herself readily available to CSW when we have needed help and support of any kind, whether at the roadside or assisting us with the planning of major events.
“Nothing is too much trouble for this officer and her assistance at the recent Frome Focus week (Operation Fly Catcher) was invaluable. Without her help it would not have run as smoothly as it did, because she ensured that we had uniform cover for the whole week, even changing her shift pattern and day off to be there if she was needed.
“If CSW has any aggressive behaviour towards them whilst doing speed watch, she deals with it immediately and it is resolved very quickly, and she keeps me in the picture as to the result of the inquiry.
“Rachel is certainly one of Avon and Somerset Polices unsung heroes and deserves all the exposure to praise she gets, because she is unselfish, caring and always puts others first. My CSW team would really like to see Rachel recognised for a PCC Pride award as she 100% deserves it.”
Speaking at the ceremony Sgt Rachel Clark said, “I have a great relationship with Frome Community Speed Watch and it’s a lovely surprise to have been nominated. It’s lovely to be recognised for what I do day in day out.”
