PLANS are already underway for this year’s Poppy Appeal, but the team behind Frome’s collection are in need of more volunteers to help.
Frome Area Poppy Appeal Organiser, Richard Fry, says, “I am pleased to advise that at the time of going to press, the plans for this year’s Poppy Appeal are all systems go as pre-pandemic, fingers crossed!
“But, due to many of the people who have helped over many years now calling it a day, and fair play they have done their bit, I need new blood.
“The help I need is: People with transport to deliver the collecting tins and boxes of poppies to areas around town and some surrounding areas. A round usually only takes a couple of hours to complete. Post appeal you then go and collect them in.
“We set up display tables, at the three largest supermarkets in town offering poppies and merchandise, these are managed by volunteers who usually carry out a 2-hour stint, (chairs are available).
“House to house collections. To go around the immediate area your live.
“It is easy to do and very rewarding knowing that you are doing something to help those who have and are still serving their country, please give it some serious thought.
“If you can help even for just this year, I promise I won’t pressgang you! Please send me an email: richard@rjfry.co.uk or call 07899 668433.”
