Frome RFC played host to the Annual Paul Lovatt Cup Town v Gown match on Friday 27th December.
The fixture, which has been a festive treat for many years, now sees returning players back for the holidays face a Frome select XV.
The club says, “We would like to thank everybody involved in annual Paul Lovatt Cup – Town v Gown match. It was great to see so many returning players, friends and family who packed out the clubhouse during and following the game.
“It was a fun contest throughout with tries being scored regularly (mainly by the boys in Blue, Black & Grey) and although the Town scored later in the game, it was the Gown XV who easily came away with a win.
“A huge thank you again to everyone for a brilliantly festive day.
“In other news the Frome RFC senior sides are back in league action on Saturday 4th when the 1st XV host Thatcham RFC 1st. The home side currently sit in 2nd place of Southern Counties South whilst their visitors sit in 10th and when they last met, Frome came home with a convincing 0-45 win, but with the league hotting up all fixtures will be tough.
“The Frome RFC 2nd XV travel to Chippenham RFC 2nd XV on Saturday 4th and will look to continue their winning ways in Dorset & Wilts 1 North when 6th place Frome II play 9th place Chippenham II.
“The Frome RFC 3rd XV have another week to go and are back in league action on January 11th when they travel to Chard RFC 3rds.”
