FOLLOWING an absence of three years, Frome Running Club is once again preparing to hold The Mells Scenic Race.
This year’s event is just over seven miles and is predominantly off road. It will be held on Sunday 24th September at Mells Cricket Club.
“This picturesque, predominantly off-road race was always a favourite in the local racing calendar but has not been held since 2019 due to Covid,’ said club chairman Andrew Smallbone. “We did hold a virtual race in 2020 but we’re now keen to welcome runners back in person to Mells.”
Race organiser Vicki Trundle added, “In contrast to previous years, this year’s race will follow a slightly modified route around the trails and lanes of Mells and Great Elm. The new route is still just over seven miles long and predominantly off road. It goes along the river at Mells, into Great Elm, along the cycle path until the Mells turn off before looping round some picturesque footpaths and back into Mells.”
The race will be fully marshalled and all participants will receive a finisher’s memento.
