LOCAL St. Louis Catholic Primary School are ‘incredibly proud’ of the children that attend as they reflect back on last year.
Headteacher Helen Biles-Wood said, “This past year, as we do every year, we have been living out the values at the heart of our school: With God by our side, we love, wonder and achieve together.
“We show love in so many ways in school; in our ‘red hats’ (older children supporting younger at lunchtimes), in our chaplaincy team (who were sworn in to Clifton Diocese chaplaincy teams) by Bishop Declan in November 2022) and through our charity work. Over the last year we have supported a number of charities, including Fresh Frome, CAFOD and Children in Need. Our School Council raised over £200 on a toy-sale for Children in Need, planned and executed all by themselves!
“Children at St Louis all full of awe and wonder. It shows in the questions they ask, the books they choose to read and the discussions we have in class. In July, our Eco Warriors wanted to find out how much food waste we produce as a school. They came up with a system to work out how much food each class was wasting after hot dinners and how we could reduce that amount.
“Our KS1 children showed that their sense of wonder is greater than fear when they were able to hold and interact with an array of minibeasts and animals, including lizards and snakes! The whole school also embarked on a journey around the world, creating art and tasting food from many different countries, from France to Africa and beyond.
“We are incredibly proud of everything the children do and everything they achieve. Every week in assembly, we have children sharing their incredible work and handwriting they are proud of. All of our children have achieved so much from PE to art, writing to singing! The children were particularly excited to win our football team competition in June 2022 and doing our school proud!
“What a year 2022 has been, we are already looking forward to 2023 with even more opportunities to demonstrate ‘love, wonder and achieve’ in our school but also in the community of Frome.”
