STAFF, children, parents, and governors at St. John’s C of E First School have welcomed a new headteacher.
Teresa Gilbert has been a headteacher for nearly 11 years at Bowlish Infant School in Shepton Mallet and prior to that, taught and had leadership roles in primary schools and another infant school.
Teresa said, “I am delighted to have been appointed as the new headteacher for St John’s and am committed to doing the very best that I can for the school and its community.
“I have already been made to feel very welcome by staff members, children and the parents I have met. The school has been in very good hands with Mrs Greathead during her period as interim headteacher and the whole school thanks her for the commitment and leadership she gave to the school community.
“St John’s is a lovely school with a dedicated team of staff members and governors, working together to do their best for the children and families that the school supports. As we move forward together, the foundation already in place will hold us in good stead to further develop and work on areas identified for improvement to make the school the very best it can be.”
A spokesperson from the school said, “Mrs Gilbert has already been visiting the school regularly over the past few months, getting to know the staff and children prior to starting. This has continued throughout her first week in post – spending time in classes and playgrounds with the children; meeting parents at the Parent Information Sessions and the school gates before and after school; joining the Year 4 children on day two of their residential trip to Kilve, and taking the whole school to St John’s for a church service to round off her first week.”
