A schoolgirl’s plans to take a stand against bullying have been taken up by fellow pupils with a march through the town next week.
Fellow pupils from across the Frome Learning Partnership will join Isla Stockdale-Coates and other anti-bullying ambassadors from Vallis School for the march on 14th November during National Anti-Bullying Week. The march is supported by Frome Town Council. It will see supporters set out from points across Frome, to demonstrate the strength of feeling amongst young people in the town.
Mayor of Frome, cllr Richard Ackroyd said, “Bullying can have a significant impact on our young people, which is why a march which raises awareness across the wider community about what can be done to address bullying, is so important.”
Schools work with young people all year round to look at ways to stop bullying. Through anti-bullying ambassadors and projects that highlight the impact it has on children and young people, it is hoped to keep instances of bullying to a minimum.
Children are sometimes faced with bullying behaviour outside of school and the aim of this march is to go a step further and engage parents and other adults to help make a difference.
